Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat happens first?Make an appointment at which J.D. Antol can meet with you, view your property, discuss what you wish you accomplish, and talk about your design tastes. You'll be able to view an extensive portfolio of J.D. Antol's work that may provide ideas or help you explain what you desire for your home. What about references?You'll be provided with a current reference list and we strongly recommend that you speak with our past and present clients about their experience with our work. Let them tell you about the positive working relationship they've enjoyed. How much does this stuff cost?We have jobs that have a relatively modest budget of 25k to 30k, such as for a backyard remodel or a pool remodel. Of course, some projects that involve many aspects and greater levels of difficulty can cost upwards of 100k and beyond. Most of our work is priced slightly higher than average, because we offer a unique product built by experienced hands, which our clients find well worth it. What if I need permits?Depending on the scope of a project, sometimes permits are necessary, and we smooth your way by obtaining any necessary permits for you. We can also provide a concept drawing which is sometimes required by homeowner's associations. What if I have a plan and already know what I want?While we specialize in one of a kind custom shapes, we also do jobs that just need to be executed promptly and efficiently. We can often provide that subtle extra "touch" that compliments your existing design. Do you work with other contractors or subcontractors?As a general contractor, we handle most everything "in-house". We do subcontract out pool plumbing and granite fabrication. All other items are handled by our crew of highly skilled specialists that have been with us for years. Working on a new home built by another general contractor is handled on a case by case basis. Ideally we retain complete control and access to the owner, to assure your total satisfaction with the final product. Do you do commercial work?Yes. We built the firepit and gas heaters at the largest hotel in California, the Manchester Grand Hyatt in downtown. We've also worked at Lawrence Welk resorts, timeshare resorts, and a couple of restaurants. Are there maintenance issues?You'll be surprised by the level of effort we put into minimizing the amount of maintenance required. All practical considerations such as automatic fills, drainage, leaves, water clarity, water loss, and water hardness are all squarely addressed and dealt with by Signature Shapes. Our expertise in this area alone is worth retaining our services. Why do you call them "Signature Shapes"?We're not just a landscaping business, BBQ island builder, or water/fire feature designer.
